A Little About Geek Mythology Crafts

Who are we?

Geek Mythology Crafts is a duo of artists with a passion for geeky things like video games, animation, DnD, movies, and other geeky avenues! What started as a hobby in 2008 has become a fun business where we can share our love of geeky things with others through our crafts. We appear at many East Coast Anime & Manga conventions, often in the Artist Alley, to sell our crafts.

What do we make and sell?

Currently we specialize in crafting "bead sprites", pixelated designs that we make physical by fusing plastic craft beads together. Though we make many designs of your favorite characters from video games, cartoons, and Anime, we are striving to create original designs of our own characters that we hope you will love as well! Everything we sell is painstakingly handmade by the two of us with love and determination!

How to Shop Geek Mythology Crafts

Thanks for choosing to purchase our fun crafts! There are a few different ways to purchase items from us. If you are having trouble deciding or navigating through those options, we hope this information will help. Remember, you may send us a message through the contact form if this information does not answer your questions or concerns. Please also see the FAQ for quick answers to common questions.

Shop Our Main Website

To shop from our main website, you can navigate the featured categories of items near the top of the page, or merely visit the shopping index page. Here you can browse through our items and select the ones you'd like to purchase buy pressing "Add to Cart". This item will be saved in the Paypal shopping cart page that pops up. You can close this page to continue shopping, and as long as cookies are enabled on you browser, you can click "view cart" or add another item to purchase, and your shopping cart will update in the shopping cart window.

Availability

All of our items are handmade with care and are crafted by just two people. As such, we cannot produce bulk quantities of any item, nor would the terms of fair use still apply to any items with the likenesses of copyrighted characters in the event of "mass production". Therefore, all of our listed items are subject to limited availability. Please note that it will take more time to create an item that is not on-hand, so please allow an additional 3-4 days for *each* out-of-stock item purchased in your order.

Order Limits

Please limit your item order to 5 items or less per transaction to comply with non-bulk purchases as well as to expedite the completion of your order and shipment. Any item purchased beyond the 5 item limit will be cancelled and refunded, and only the first 5 items on your transaction list will be honored (this goes for commissioned pieces as well). You are welcomed to start a new order after reaching the 5 item limit.

Payment Methods

The Geek Mythology Crafts website uses secure PayPal (www.paypal.com) Shopping Cart for your convenience. Once you are finished shopping, click checkout to proceed with PayPal payment. You are not required to sign up for a Paypal account in order to pay for your purchases; you may use a credit or debit card through Paypal checkout. If you are unfamiliar with how Paypal works, please visit their website for more details before making your purchase.

Shipping

All shipping is done through the United States Postal Service via Priority Mail (2-3 day service in the continental United States). This includes tracking information. Up to 5 items in our shop may be shipped together in one order. Shipping on custom orders vary. Orders are shipped each week on Saturday mornings.

Returns

It is our goal to have happy customers! We try our very best to produce quality items for our customers. If you are not satisfied with your purchase within 14 days of shipping, we will happily repair or refund the item for you under the following terms:

* Due to the amount of labor put into our handmade crafts, we cannot exchange a bead sprite for another one, but we are happy to repair or refund your purchase. We will promptly repair any damage or issue you a refund or exchange upon receipt of the returned item within 14 days of initial shipment.

* Your items should reach you within 3-5 days after it has been shipped. Please contact us within 7 days of receiving your purchase via e-mail to let us know what issue may have arisen with your item. Items cannot be returned for repair or refund beyond 2 weeks (14 days) after they have been shipped.

* PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the item, commissioned items of your original characters CANNOT BE RETURNED FOR A REFUND. All commissions are photographed and shown to the customer before being shipped. Please be sure that the item looks acceptable before giving your approval for us to send it. We will be more than happy to do repairs, if they are needed, to the existing bead sprite before the 14 day limit.

* Shipping costs cannot be refunded. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs incurred by both returning the item and for having it re-shipped.

* Refunds cannot be offered for items lost due to incorrect address information given by the customer. Please double check the shipping address you provide during checkout.

The works that appear here or on related pages of this web site are pursuant to doctrines of fair use. Copyright holders are encouraged to contact us with any concerns or issues regarding rights violations.

Custom and Original Works Credit

Where noted, designs customized and originated by Geek Mythology Crafts are intellectual property thereof and may not be reproduced for display or sale without written, verifiable permission from Geek Mythology Crafts representatives. These include Chibishou designs and custom characters of either original or parody design. Please contact us with related matters or concerns.

Exclusivity

"Chibishous" listed in this section of the website are exclusive designs of Geek Mythology Crafts. These designs may not be reproduced for sale or displayed on another website without verfiable permission from Geek Mythology Crafts. Additionally, they are only available for purchase at www.geekmythologycrafts.com, Geek Mythology Crafts Etsy shop, or from Geek Mythology Crafts representatives at conventions. Each original Chibishou design released is dated and cross-posted at geek-mythology.DeviantArt.com and Geek Mythology Crafts blog.

Commissioned Chibishou and Other Designs

If you do not see a character that you'd like as a Chibishou in our shop, you may commission one from us on the commissions page. We do take commissions for custom designs resembling existing characters under the terms of parody and fair use.

For example, you would love a Chibishou of the Prince of Persia but you do not see him in our gallery. Go to the commission page and fill out the necessary information to request the design. The same can be done using the "Regular Bead Sprite" form to custom design a character not in the standard Chibishou style.

Please note - Fan and parody designs done of these commissoned, notable, existing characters may be put in out shop for others to purchase and enjoy.

WE CAN CUSTOM DESIGN YOUR ORIGINAL CHARACTERS INTO CHIBISHOUS

If you are an artist or have your own characters in your mind and want to get your ideas into a fun, physical art form, we ENCOURAGE you to challenge us with making a Chibishou of your character. Just fill out the commission form as usual but write "My original character" in the "What series/movie/game is this characters from?" field.

A few limitations should be noted:

* Character must be a bi-pedal humanoid able to fit within the general shape of our Chibishou style.

* Larger, bulkier characters that go out of the confines of this shape will take more time and cost extra to create.

* No mecha or overly in-organic/non-humaniod characters can be accepted at this time. Example: Transformers / Mobile Suits

* Anthropomorphic animals are OK provided they are able to reasonably fit within the Chibishou template.

A reference picture is greatly recommended. A non-refundable $5 deposit is required for each original commission request before the design work will be done. We will work with you in the design stage as best we can, as it is our desire to please! However we can only reasonably offer so many adjustments to the initial sprite design as we have many other customers waiting for their orders. If you are repeatedly dissatisfied after 5 changes to the sprite, each subsequent design change will incure a $1 labor fee.

* Please note - Geek Mythology Crafts respects your rights to your characters and WILL NOT resell ANY bead sprites of your original commission. Permission will be asked on an individual basis to place the finished work in our gallery. If granted, full credit for the character will be noted to the original artist or commissioner possessing the rights to the character.
