AnimeNext 2010 Complete!

Posted By Vilsy on June 27th, 2010

Greetings all!

It took us about a week to recover from last weekend’s AnimeNext Artist Alley! Unfortunately we both caught SOMETHING and are pretty darn sick this week. -_-

But all that aside, thanks so much to everyone who visited Geek Mythology Crafts’ table in the Artist Alley. We had probably the most fun that we’ve had yet and it was very nice to see so many familiar faces this year! Hopefully we’ll be able to make it to AnimeNext 2011.

Our Chibishous did very well- we sold out of the 32 that we had available! You can bet that I’ll be designing many more new characters for Otakon and beyond!

For those who are curious, our website is STILL under construction, but commmissions are OPEN! You can request a commission of a Chibishou or other bead sprite at: http://www.geekmythologycrafts.com/commissions/index.php

Meanwhile we’ll be hard at work restocking the web store and will be getting ready for Otakon! See you there!

New Custom Chibishou Bead Sprites!

Chibishous are a project I’ve been working on for a while now. These particular sprites do not appear in any game– they were custom-designed by Geek Mythology Crafts and are only available from us at conventions, at our website, www.geekmythologycrafts.com and at our Etsy Store.

Aside from that, we will be debuting these bead sprites at AnimeNext in a few weeks! We hope everyone will enjoy them as much as we do. :)

Currently we aren’t taking commissions due to conventions coming up, but after the hustle slows we can make custom Chibishous of your original characters, and can take requests for characters that you don’t see on our site!

Etsy Item: Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant Bead Sprite

Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant Bead Sprite for Sale on Etsy

Super Mario Bros. Piranha Plant Bead Sprite for Sale on Etsy

For sale at our Etsy Shop is a Piranha Plant Bead Sprite from Super Mario Bros. 3, complete with green “pipe”. This hungry guy is made from Perler beads and a painted terracotta pot. These will be available at our future convention art tables as well as through Etsy. They will be $15 at conventions, and you can save a buck by purchasing one online for $14. Check them out here!

Don’t have a green thumb? Not to worry! Take home one of these semi-harmless potted Piranha plants from Super Mario Bros! They are constructed with Perler Beads and have the same hungry-looking design on both sides. They come in their very own green “pipe” made from a terra cotta pot coated in acrylic paint. They are embedded in brown shredded paper and are removable from their pot, so you can “plant” them elsewhere if you like. When you want to put the Piranha back in its pot, simply remove the shredded paper, stick ‘im back in, and work the paper around the stick at the bottom of the sprite. Pack him in tightly and he’s ready to stand on his own roots again! These bead Piranhas don’t require any maintenance or water! Best of all- they don’t bite!

InochiCon 2010

Posted By Vilsy on December 11th, 2009

I discovered a brand new anime convention in the Philadelphia area! Inochicon is looking to kick off its first convention in late summer of next year, and we hope to be there! It’s always exciting to find anime conventions in the tri-state area. We love staying local. ;)

While the location hasn’t been confirmed yet, we’ve expressed our interest in attending and in having an artist table at the con. We’ll keep you posted!

CPAC 2009 Complete!

Posted By Vilsy on March 30th, 2009

Hey, JJ and I had a great time at CPAC 2009 in the Artist Alley! We are dog tired though, phew! It was great meeting so many neat people and other awesome artists.  We had to say good-bye to A LOT of our sprites; we were really surprised at the great response we had.  We were even interviewed! We were very flattered and look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Many many thanks to everyone who visited our table and bought our sprites! We will be working very, very hard to make lots more to share with everyone at AnimeNext!

If we sold a sprite that you had your eye on but couldn’t get back to in time, no worries! Just click on “Commissions” and fill out the form and we can make it for you!

We only have a few sprites left, but I will be posting them on Etsy for anyone interested, and I’ll update everyone when they’re ready!

Again, many thanks, and a special thanks to Regina Pynn at Stevens for being so wonderful and helpful at the Artist Alley! Back to work we go!
